FPDS Sunset — What Premium Subscribers Need to Know

FPDS.gov's public face is gone. Since February 24, 2026 every public FPDS function lives on SAM.gov, and GSA says the FPDS ATOM feed is next. If your pipeline tools, BI dashboards, or competitive-intel scripts still pull from FPDS, the migration window is measured in months, not years.

FPDS ATOM feed sunset. GSA's announcement put it "later in FY 2026" and sam.gov/fpds says the feed will be replaced by the SAM.gov Contract Awards API, but as of October 19, 2026 neither page gives a shutdown date or says it has happened. SAM.gov Contract Awards API. GSA documents a production endpoint on open.gsa.gov and tells feed consumers to start using it today; on-demand queries, CSV and JSON output, and deleted-contract data are listed as planned enhancements with no dates. Is your pipeline at risk?

Three checks. If any answer is yes, you need a migration plan before the next FY rollover.

Are you (or your tooling vendor) still pulling from the FPDS Atom Feed for award data? Check your nightly batch jobs and BI ingestion scripts.

Do your reports use hard-coded FPDS field names (e.g., contractActionType, baseAndAllOptionsValue) that don't map cleanly to the SAM.gov Contract Data API schema?

Are scripts still using the old IDV PIID format (FPDS-style hyphenation) that SAM.gov has normalized to the new structured format?

MMT reads award records from USASpending.gov rather than the FPDS feed; the Sole-Source Watch runs on it. If you maintain your own pipeline, replicate the field mapping in the PDF above and validate against the same award records before cutting over. Status checked October 19, 2026.
