Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement. The national infrastructure for health data exchange.
Why It Matters
TEFCA establishes the rules of the road for nationwide health information exchange. It connects existing health information networks (Carequality, eHealth Exchange, DirectTrust, etc.) into a unified framework. ONC oversees TEFCA. For federal health IT, TEFCA represents the path toward seamless data exchange between DoD, VA, and the commercial healthcare system.
