MTF
Military Treatment Facility. A military hospital or clinic. There are roughly 700 worldwide, from Walter Reed to battalion aid stations.
Why It Matters
MTFs range from world-class medical centers like Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to small clinics on forward operating bases. DHA has operational authority over MTFs, but they are staffed by Service medical personnel. The type of MTF determines what health IT systems are deployed and how they connect to the broader network.
