CO / KO

Contracting Officer. The individual with legal authority to enter into, administer, and terminate contracts on behalf of the U.S. government.

Why It Matters

"KO" (Kontract Officer) is a legacy abbreviation used interchangeably with "CO." No one else on the government side can bind the government to a contract. If the CO did not sign it, it does not count. The CO is your legal counterpart. The COR is your operational counterpart.
