PATH EHR (Oracle Health, built and run by GDIT under a $2.5B IDIQ) went live at its first site, the Lawton Service Unit in Oklahoma, on September 26, 2026 after an August 1 registration-and-scheduling soft go-live, beginning the replacement of RPMS after nearly 40 years.
IHS PATH is now a live program, not a plan. Lawton Indian Hospital, Anadarko Indian Health Center and Carnegie Indian Health Center cut over September 26, 2026 after a soft go-live in August, and the IHS CIO reported first-week patient portal and e-prescribing activity on October 13. RPMS keeps paying until the last site moves: IHS put dated FY2027 Q1 lines on the HHS forecast for RPMS First Data Bank, CSMT AIX support, RPMS CHIT certification and a Navajo Area RPMS replacement. Tribal health IT procurement intersects with both federal contracting and tribal sovereignty considerations, which constrains what vendors can compete and how.
