The most unsettled chart in this set. Commissioner Marty Makary resigned May 12, 2026; Kyle Diamantas is Acting, and the White House announced August 18 its intent to nominate Heidi Overton, MD; her Senate HELP hearing was September 24, 2026 and she was not confirmed as of October 19, 2026 (trade press; not on fda.gov). CDER, CBER and CTP now have permanent directors: the profiles page (now dated October 7, 2026) lists Michael Davis, Karim Mikhail and Bret Koplow without the Acting label, after CBER ran through four acting directors since January 2025. A new Deputy Commissioner for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Jared Seehafer, now sits beside the Acting Director of the Office of Mission Information Technology Services. The April 2025 RIF cut roughly 3,500 FTEs and eliminated nearly the whole Office of Digital Transformation executive team; no CIO is published on the leadership profiles page or the overview org chart. The stable island is the contracting shop: Leonard Grant has been the permanent HCA throughout.
