Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
Leadership and Contracting Organization

Current as of August 25, 2026 • Administrator: Mehmet Oz (confirmed April 2025) • Sources: cms.gov leadership pages · HHS HCA roster
← CMS profile
Two things to know before you read the boxes. First, CMS kept its own contracting shop: the April 2026 HHS HCA roster still lists a CMS-specific HCA, so the OMAS consolidation did NOT absorb CMS's $10B+ acquisition operation. Second, that shop has been under acting leadership since mid-2025: OAGM Director and HCA Derrick Heard retired (per trade press; the cms.gov OAGM page, last touched January 2024, still lists him and is stale), and Doug Bergevin signs as Acting HCA. CMS also stood up a new Office of Healthcare Experience and Interoperability (OHEI) whose Director seat is vacant, and created a Chief Clinical AI Officer deputy-administrator slot.

Small Business
Two Small Business Specialists (unnamed)
CMS has no standalone OSDBU; its specialists sit in OAGM and represent CMS to the HHS OSDBU. The live cms.gov page names no individuals.
Capture read: the requirements engines our readers sell into (OIT, OEDA, the new OHEI, CCSQ quality systems, CPI audit tooling) are mostly under permanent leadership, but the buying authority itself is Acting and the OAGM front office is unsettled. RMADA-class and MIDAS-class recompetes will keep moving; expect conservative source selection until the HCA seat is permanent. The Chief Clinical AI Officer slot and the vacant OHEI Director seat are the two org-chart signals worth watching this fall.
